Frequently Asked Questions

When is a D-Ostomy most useful?

The D-Ostomy is most helpful when there is anatomy (bellybutton, incision, scar, rolls, folds, second ostomy, drains, etc.) that make it hard for a normal appliance to land without overlap.

The straight edge side of the D-Ostomy can be placed next to these challenging areas, allowing the appliance to seal without involving the anatomy that may have caused issues in the past. What is included in a Sample Pack?

  • 1 universal barrier
  • 4 barriers, one of each directional pouch
  • (1 purple, 1 blue, 1 orange, 1 green)

The D-Ostomy’s universal, flat, cut-to-fit barrier works with all D-Ostomy pouches. Cut a hole in the barrier slightly larger than the stoma, then rotate the barrier to match the pouch direction. The universal D-Ostomy barrier can accommodate stomas ranging in size from 10mm (.39 inches) to 70mm (2.75 inches).
